As well
as being an active airport, Langley Regional Airport is also recognized by
the surrounding communities as a facility well suited for several events
catering to residents of all ages.
From the extremely successful and
popular family oriented
Langley Canada Day
Celebrations (now held off field)) that attracts over 60,000 people annually to the
Experimental Aircraft Association
Young Eagles
program that offers children the opportunity of a free first flight in a
small aircraft, Langley Airport contributes to the overall community spirit
of Langley Township and Langley City.
The Airport is also home to the
Canadian Museum of
Flight which boasts an impressive collection of historical artifacts
including several examples of rare and one-of-a-kind aircraft.
The
Canadian Air
Cadets utilize the facility for glider flight training and the annual
inspection of the Cloverdale Air Cadet Squadron.
There are several impromptu and
organized fly-ins
that bring a wide variety of aircraft including many antique aero planes as
well as the annual fly-past of the Canadian Legion on
Remembrance Day
in honor of those who served during wartime.
